Founder of La Esperanza invited to Pope’s Address to Congress

We would like to extend a well-deserved congratulations to Sister Rosa Alvarez of La Esperanza.  Senator Tom Carper has selected Sister Rosa to be his sole guest for the Pope’s address to Congress on September 24th.  Sister Rosa is one of the Three Carmelite Sisters of Charity who founded La Esperanza Community Center in 1996.  She has been helping expecting mothers long before starting La Esperanza; from making sure they receive proper prenatal care to helping in the delivery room in over 1,000 births.  In a statement, Carper says he is honored to have Sister Rosa with him on Thursday and, “like the Pope, she has devoted her life to serving others, especially the ‘least of these.’”
