Lump Sum Settlements: Disfigurement
Q: Will Worker’s Compensation pay for my scar?
A: If the scar is visible and causes you some embarrassment, the law provides that there be a lump sum award to you for disfigurement.
Q: How much can I expect to receive for my claim?
A: Each case is different and must be reviewed thoroughly by your attorney. However, the awards of the Industrial Accident Board have typically have been very conservative, and therefore, offers on these claims have been conservative as well. Offers are made based on the number of “weeks” of Worker’s Compensation, so the higher the Worker’s Compensation rate, the higher one’s benefits will be.
Q: Will I have to go to court?
A: Most cases are resolved through negotiations with insurance companies. If they can’t be resolved, we will go before the Industrial Accident Board and present your claim.
Q: How do I get in touch with you?
A: We have six offices throughout Delaware to serve you. Please contact us today at 1-800-632-9230 for a free consultation at the office nearest you. Or E-mail us at: EricDoroshow@dplaw.com. If we take your case, there is no fee unless we collect for you.
